Spread the love

As Huron County landscapes emerge from their winter slumber, farmers prepare fields for planting, and the waves on majestic Lake Huron gently roll in, Tasting Huron County is launching three local food experiences. Coinciding with the cottage season kick off, reservations open on May 4, 2021 with deliveries commencing May 20, 2021.

Founder and recently-returned Huron County local, Mandy Sinclair, has created three bespoke experiences for travellers and residents alike. Highlighting the county’s culinary scene and outdoor spaces, Tasting Huron County provides private curated food experiences featuring local producers delivered directly to guests.

“I grew up in Huron County, but have been spending time in Morocco where I own a food tour company called Tasting Marrakech. For the past 10 years, I have spent summers enjoying beach days on the shores of Lake Huron, the nature trails bordering the Maitland and Bayfield Rivers, and exploring the local food and drink scene. When I returned to the area in July 2020, for what I thought would be a three-month stay, I realized that the county had become an even greater destination and decided to bring the Tasting Marrakech concept I developed in Morocco home,” says Sinclair.

All Tasting Huron County experiences combine Sinclair’s love of lingering with friends (when it’s safe to do so) around a table filled with good food, whether it’s lakeside at a cottage, throwing down a picnic blanket outdoors, exploring the restaurant scene while wandering around town, or inviting a few friends to a backyard gathering.

Tasting Huron County Breakfast Table

The Huron County Breakfast Table is a farm-to-table brunch delivered to the guests’ doorstep. Inspired by founder Mandy Sinclair’s love of lingering over a good cup of coffee and a bountiful breakfast with friends, she curates each experience to provide guests the opportunity to sample the best of Huron County.

Farm fresh cheeses and meat products, pastries straight from local ovens, maple products to sweeten a coffee or drizzle over cereals, unique honey products, fresh pressed juices, and more are included in Tasting Huron County Breakfast Table experience. It’s like a delivery from a countywidefarmers’ market.

To simplify the brunch planning, the meal is ready to consume upon delivery with minimal food preparation required. Just set the table, gather and enjoy!

The Tasting Huron County Breakfast Table is available for delivery within Huron County, Canada from Monday to Saturday with delivery typically between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. This experience must be booked minimum 24 hours in advance.

Tasting Huron County Along the Way

Tasting Huron County Along the Way allows travellers and locals alike to taste homegrown flavours against a picturesque natural backdrop. With an abundance of hiking and cycling trails including the Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail, the Maitland Trail, parks and conservation areas dotting the county, guests can choose a meeting place and time and the Tasting Huron County team will deliver their favourite picnic essentials from local producers across Huron County.

Inspired by Sinclair’s love of sunny days picnicking in parks across Europe, she has curated not only her favourite foods, but also a list of favourite spots for getting outdoors, escaping the crowds, and dining with a view that she’ll happily share with guests. Home delivery is available to those who prefer a backyard picnic or cozying up by the fire.

Tasting Huron County provides the food, cutlery and plates, while guests arrange their own picnic blanket and other essentials (water, bug spray and sunscreen are a few recommended necessities in Huron County).

Tasting Huron County Along the Way is available daily for lunchtime delivery between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., early evening dinner or while watching the sunset between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Huron County. This experience must be booked minimum 24 hours in advance.

Tasting Huron County Goderich Tasting Trail

This half-day guided tasting trail winds its way through Goderich, Ontario’s historical downtown with its octagonal main street and the port, where the world’s largest underground salt mine is located, while sampling fare from founder Mandy Sinclair’s preferred bakeries, cafes, restaurants and breweries.

In between tastings, guests will explore the architecture and learn about local history, wander along the trails and meet friendly residents that comprise what Queen Elizabeth II called  “the prettiest town in Canada”.

Sinclair created similar tours as part of Tasting Marrakech food and cultural tours, which she launched in 2014 in Morocco (tasting-marrakech.com).

This tour will launch once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and in accordance with advice the local public health authorities issue.

These experiences are private and suitable for all ages, allowing for modifications subject to availability. Guests are encouraged to book in accordance with local COVID-19 advisories.
