The Islands of Tahiti continue to capture the imagination of Australian travellers, with the destination’s popularity increasing in the last year.

Week on week in 2019, search traffic for the destination is up by 114%, with key terms showing that people are looking for not just the destination, but specific activities and islands. The increase in online search demonstrates that Australian travellers are recognizing Tahiti’s proximity, and also that the work being done by Tahiti Tourisme to highlight lesser known aspects of the destination, including budget friendly accommodation and activities, is paying off.

Islands including Moorea and Taha’a are now firmly on the radar of Australians interested in Tahiti, with travellers seeking cultural and adventure holidays as much as they are a relaxing week in Bora Bora, which remains a firm travel favourite.

Guesthouses and villa rentals for families and larger groups are also proving popular, however the Islands’ increasing popularity has resulted in many hotels reporting longer peak periods, and Aussie travellers are being encouraged to book further in advance to ensure availability.
