Tigerair Australia has confirmed Swissport as ground handling partner for its domestic network, extending a successful 11-year partnership.

Swissport will continue to exclusively provide full ground handling services at Tigerair’s 12 Australian airports for an initial three-year term with the opportunity for another two years.

Swissport Senior VP Pacific Rob D’Alessio said the renewal recognises the deep partnership that has developed since Tigerair commenced in Australia in 2007.

“Having played an integral role in Tigerair’s start-up, we have been honoured to support the airline as their business has developed over several years to become the key player they are today.”

“We have always worked energetically and innovatively to support Tigerair to capitalise on various opportunities and tackle challenges along the way.”

“We are proud that our partnership extends beyond traditional ground handling services to include provision of information technology and other operational support services,” he said.

Tigerair Australia CEO, Merren McArthur, said: “We are pleased to announce today that we are continuing our long-standing partnership with Swissport. As the exclusive ground handler for Tigerair Australia across all of the airports that we operate within, we rely on Swissport to be an extension of our team, welcoming our customers and ensuring that our operations run safely and smoothly across Australia.”

Tigerair has flown well over 30 million passengers in Australia since operations commenced in Australia in November 2007. The airline operates 11 A320 aircraft and 4 B737 aircraft in Australia across 21 domestic routes.

Swissport operates at 32 airports across Australia and New Zealand, partnering with all major domestic airlines and many international carriers in the region.
