Qatar Airways Group has ramped up its number of job listings from double-digit figures in February 2020 to over 420 jobs in June 2021, according to Job Analytics database by GlobalData. The leading data and analytics company notes that Qatar Airways’ hiring focus is on operational roles and revenue management positions.
Ajay Thalluri, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, says: “Qatar Airways sustained operations – albeit limited – throughout the peak of global COVID-19 travel restrictions. Now that the airline is flying to more destinations, the company is not only hiring more cabin crew, but also personnel to manage revenue streams. For example, it is seeking talent for a commercial business intelligence team to oversee a revenue portfolio of over $2bn. Between June 2021 – August 2021*, the airline posted over 750 jobs.”
Thalluri adds: “Jobs related to ‘revenue’ and ‘commercial business intelligence’ saw a significant spike in June 2021, with the company staffing for revenue management and commercial teams in Qatar, the US and the UK. A key example is the ‘Manager of Commercial Business Intelligence’ role, which will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing solutions to eliminate revenue leakage. Further available commercial business intelligence roles in the Americas, Europe and Africa regions show that the company is researching large-scale industry trends and new business opportunities to increase revenue. These include network expansion exercises such as new destinations, frequency increases, and up gauging – as shown in the ‘Central Commercial Business Intelligence Analyst’ role advertisement.”
As well as increased flights, Qatar Airways has resumed HR services across several countries, as reflected in the staffing of a Global Talent Acquisition Project team to develop new talent acquisition processes and technologies. The company recently listed ‘Human Resources Coordinator’ roles in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Thailand and the UAE to prepare for recruitment, promotions, appointments and salary reviews. Meanwhile, the ‘Recruitment Specialist-New York’, will be recruiting for roles in Americas region.
The airline also listed ‘Human Resource Manager’ roles for developing HR strategy in all areas of recruitment and retention in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Australia, New Zealand and France. The airline is also looking to support commercial, airport services, cargo, and corporate teams in Northern and Western Africa, including Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana and the Ivory Coast.
Thalluri, concludes: “The sudden spurt of job postings by Qatar Airways was expected due to the elevated rebound of airline travelers. The company has listed 15 jobs since June 2021 that require incumbents to ‘recruit’ across sales, cargo, ground services, commercial business, and network support teams.”
