As Barcelona’s nightlife re-opens once again, The Barcelona EDITION is delighted to announce the re-opening of its award-winning speakeasy-inspired bar concept, Punch Room. Adapted seamlessly to suit the Barcelona zeitgeist, guests are drawn into the intimate drinking den via a beautiful spiral staircase, inspired by the comfort of English country manor house libraries and London’s nineteenth-century private clubs.

Capturing the five traditional ingredients of punch: spirits from Europe and the colonies, spices and citrus from Africa and the east, teas from China and India, sugar from the Indies, the menu takes inspiration from the region of Catalonia. The intimate lounge highlights local spirits and ingredients with its curated cocktail menu offering modern and traditional specialty punches, served individually or in vintage silver bowls to share.

The revitalised cocktail menu fuses local spirits and ingredients bringing the acclaimed creativity and sophistication from London to the Barcelona bar scene. The bar’s ethos places heavy emphasis on the social aspect of sharing and discussion with punch bowls, including the EDITION Punch concocted with jasmine tea and a subtle hint of wood from the oak moss, available for 1, 2 or 25 people at the same time at €12.50 per person.

Other menu highlights include the intriguing, bizarre, but nothing short of brilliant Spanish Milk Punch. Inspired by the traditional English sweet frothy drink, Syllabub, its texture is silky smooth. The punch’s flavours are crisp, well rounded and identifiable with Cognac, Rum, Pedro Ximénez, Pineapple, A mix of spices, Saffron, Lemon Sherbet, Oolong Tea, Lemon Juice and Milk.

Overseeing Punch Room’s food offering Executive Chef, Pedro Tassarolo, has created an intriguing new bar menu to accompany the unique drinks. Small bites include Crispy Bravas featuring the house special brava sauce and aioli, Chickpea Panisse accompanied by a Black truffle mayo, an Iberian Pork Sandwich with white cabbage and honey mustard and a Crispy Pasta stuffed with sobrasada, walnuts and honey with Maó cheese dip sauce.

Set to a soundtrack of throwback, vintage jazz, funk and soul through the ages; the Punch Room offers visitors and hotel guests alike a space to relax and unwind. The drinking haunt’s design features elegant oak panelled walls and a black granite fireplace offering an alluring space to indulge and unwind buttery leather and velvet furniture. Patrons are invited to enjoy an impressive Castilian style billiard table with golden cloth, complemented by a rich dark oak checkerboard floor whilst a collection of photos by local artist Andrea Torres are framed on the walls, flanked by elegant wall sconces and antique free-standing lamps.
