P&O Cruises long-standing celebrity chef Luke Mangan is bringing a taste of his popular Salt grill restaurant to home kitchens around the country with a new series of inspirational, virtual cooking classes.

Starting this Monday evening, the acclaimed cooking whizz will show fans of P&O how to recreate some of his famous dishes usually found on Salt grill menus served onboard the cruise line’s ships.

The cooking classes are part of P&O’s mission to provide its guests with a taste of the high seas during this period when most Australians are spending increasing amounts of time at home.

Luke Mangan is the longest-serving celebrity chef at sea and his renowned Salt grill dining outlets have been a favourite with cruise passengers since they were first introduced to P&O’s fleet in 2009.

In addition to Salt Grill on Pacific Dawn and Pacific Aria, Luke also spearheads Luke’s grill and A Taste of Salt on P&O’s flagship Pacific Explorer.

Australia’s respected chef said the weekly cooking demonstrations aimed to provide P&O’s fans with a chance to hone their cooking skills, assist families with serving up an exciting new dish for the dinner table and evoke fond memories of past cruise holidays.

“Many of us are spending increasing amounts of time at home and this provides a great opportunity to get in the kitchen, test our culinary skills and try out new recipes. Home cooking is a lot of fun and can be a great way of bringing the family together at dinner time,” Mr Mangan said.

“I’ve prepared a host of meal ideas which are easy to create in the home kitchen and suitable for chefs of all abilities. The added bonus with these recipes is that they’re all much-loved dishes from my Salt grill restaurants found on P&O Cruises fleet and I’m sure they’ll spark some nostalgia with family at dinner.”

Luke Mangan’s Monday Meal Inspiration starts at 5pm tonight with ‘Pea and Mint Bruschetta’ from P&O Cruises Salt grill. The virtual cooking class can be viewed on P&O Cruises Facebook and YouTube page.
