After five years of touring around the country, the masterminds who brought the iconic Middle Eastern dessert and pop-up restaurant, Knafeh Bakery, to Australia are partnering with OpenTable, the global leader in online restaurant reservations. Together they will create an unforgettable dining experience, before The Bearded Bakers depart on their inaugural world tour.

On Saturday 18 May, The Bearded Bakers will transform Sydney’s old Arnott’s Biscuit Factory into a magical dining experience inspired by the Old City of Jerusalem. From today, forty lucky diners will have the chance to book the experience on OpenTable and enjoy a three course Middle Eastern menu at $100 per head, complete with their infectious singing, dancing and delicious food, of which Knafeh Bakery has become synonymous for.

Commenting on this experience, Tim Domelow, OpenTable’s Senior Restaurant Relations Manager for APAC, said: “As an online restaurant platform with 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, we pride ourselves on our ability to create new and interesting ways to bring people together over the dining table and forge memorable moments that can be shared.”

“To celebrate the local success story of The Bearded Bakers and showcase their legendary entertainment and food, we are excited to partner with them to make this exclusive dining occasion bookable, giving several lucky diners the chance to experience Knafeh for the last time this year, before The Bearded Bakers depart Australia on their world tour.”

Over the past five years, Knafeh Bakery has grown in popularity, drawing crowds in every city and town that they visit. Whilst their pop-ups are traditionally unbookable, OpenTable is giving diners the chance to secure a spot at the table by visiting http://www.opentable.com.au/r/the-old-city-by-the-bearded-bakers-north-strathfield to confirm their reservation.

The Bearded Bakers serve up an Australian interpretation of Knafeh, a sweet cheese dessert from the Middle East. However, those familiar with The Bearded Bakers will know that the experience is a lot more than just a dessert. At their pop-up restaurants, customers watch the bakers sing and dance their way through the entire baking process, creating an unforgettable dining experience and an authentic insight into Middle Eastern culture.

Ameer El-Issa, Creative Director at The Bearded Bakers said: “We’re excited to be partnering with OpenTable to create a bespoke full course menu to enable our guests to experience much more than what we’re typically known for, which is the simplicity of Knafeh Bakery.

“At Knafeh, we’re all about the experience. At this event, we’ll bring the old city of Jerusalem to life and give our guests the chance to see, smell and be involved in the entire process.”
