Following quickly on from last week’s extension of the cruise ban announcment by the Federal Government, Carnival Cruise Line has announced the cancellation of four additional Aussie sailings of both Carnival Spirit and Carnival Splendor The cruises on both Aussie based ships have been cancelled up to and including 16 December, which is the day before the human biosecurity emergency period is set to expire, but it is not clear if it will expire or not then and whether Carnival will risk sending the ships down under to start cruisng then!

Alternatively, does this suggest that Carnival is thinking the cruise ban will end before then giving them a couple of months to get the ships down here ready to sail on 16 December? We shall have to wait and see!

In the meantime, over in the USA, Carnival Cruise Line’s restart continues with Carnival Valor joining Carnival Glory in New Orleans for four and five night sailings starting from November and Carnival Legend from 14 November from Baltimore, replacing Carnival Pride, which will homeport in Tampa from 14 November.

Also, the maiden voyage of Carnival Radiance will take place on 13 December out of Long Beach, rescheduled from 5 November due to a revised dry dock transformation plan, while Carnival Conquest will restart from Miami, originally scheduled for 8 October, be delayed until 13 December and Carnival Sensation’s 21 October restart from Mobile now in January.

Carnival Cruise Line has also announced that protocols for vaccinations, testing, and masks are to remain in place through to the end of the year, with Carnival to continue to meet the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s standard of vaccinated cruises and Carnival is also working to set up pre-sailing rapid testing sites at all of its homeports, while guests will be asked to wear masks in most indoor venues of the ship where people congregate.
