Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites’ latest new hotel opening, Oaks Toowoomba Hotel, has been delayed to July 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Oaks has chosen to delay the opening to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both staff and guests.

The 102-suite, five-storey new build development will occupy the former Gladstone Hotel site on Kwong Sang Walk, which pays tribute to the town’s multicultural community and is part of the ongoing revitalisation of Ruthven Street in the CBD.

Mr Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels – Australia & New Zealand, said “our utmost priority is the health and safety of our staff and guests, and we are taking every precaution to help flatten the curve and ensure our communities can begin to travel again in Australia in the near future.”

Kenneth Wagner, developer of the Oaks Toowoomba Hotel said, “although we are disappointed at having to delay the opening of our development, we are excited at both the quality of the accommodation product and the high calibre of business this development brings to the CBD.”

The development will also include an Oak and Vine restaurant, contemporary pub The Rock, and retailers and service providers including Ivy Design Collections and Profile Hair Design.

“We are looking forward to being able to showcase our product once we receive advice from the Federal Government and relevant health authorities that it is safe to do so.” Mr. Wagner concluded.
