“There are so many beautiful ceramic items being created and coming in for audiences to buy directly from the artists in the market plus highly collectable platters by leading local artists.”

Lenore Howard founding member of KickArts Collective and former KickArts / NorthSite Board Member facilitated a ceramic platter-making fundraising initiative through informal workshops at TAFE Far North throughout 2019/20.

“The artist group can be defined by their history of longevity with KickArts, including some founding members who are still actively involved with NorthSite. A significant part of initiating the idea was to give something back to those artists, and in turn those artists to give back to the gallery, and what could be more exciting than to work collectively, and on a new medium most had never undertaken and to bring those artists together in what was primarily designed as a joyful interaction.” said Howard.

“This exciting project could not have been achieved without the support and generosity of Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE Ceramics Department and lecturing artists Jennifer Valmadre and Olivia Azzopardi.” said NorthSite Board Member Julie Poulsen.
