Identifying the desire for travel and activities, but also the common financial barriers, Play Travel has launched its new payment plan ‘Planpay’. Giving travellers the opportunity to choose a holiday package or build their own to the value of $12,000 and pay back in weekly, interest-free instalments. Planpay appeals to consumers who like to budget and book with financial confidence.

With domestic borders open and a trans-Tasman bubble operating between Australia and New Zealand, travellers are ready to explore with research showing a deep appetite for travel in 2021 with 88% expressing that it is what they look forward to the most! Contrary to that only 9% are missing festivals and concerts and 3% missing large gatherings and no surprises here, 1% missing the office.

Despite international borders operating with New Zealand, Aussies still prefer to travel locally with 41% opting for domestic travel bucket list destinations.

“Over the past year we’ve seen the idea of travel completely reinvented due to the pandemic. Despite the barriers we’ve been faced with, including financial, consumers are still eager to get out and explore. That’s why we’ve chosen to grow our offering beyond ‘Afterpay’ and launch ‘Planpay’- we want to be the gateway to helping Aussies live their travel dreams,” – Andrew Paykel, CEO Play travel

When it comes to paying for travel, the allure of Afterpay reigns supreme with 64% preferencing this method, 28% highlighting that they’d prefer to pay in weekly instalments and just 8% opting for credit card debt.

The online travel agency also offers customers the option to ‘Afterpay’ their holiday. With a limit of $3,000, paid in four fortnightly instalments travellers can book and travel within 48 hours. Both payment options allow customers to take control, planning and paying for travel in a responsible and stress-free way.

During a time when travel is being re-defined, Play Travel is ensuring bucket list holidays are still within reach by providing payment solutions that encourage consumers to book with confidence.

“These payment solutions will not only help consumers but ultimately the travel industry, as it slowly rebuilds”, Andrew Paykel, CEO Play Travel.

The survey also revealed the preference for accommodation people are most looking forward to this year, with 52% preferencing resort style, 44% opting for hotel holiday, equally sitting at 26% is apartment and holiday house with #vanlife the minority at 11%.

And when it comes to the type of holiday, seems ordering cocktails and burgers poolside is the front runner with luxury (24%) and beach-style (40%) taking preference, with 28% looking for adventure and only 7% opting for theme park style holidays.

Wherever you go, now with Play Travel’s Planpay you can pay off up to the value of $12,000 of your holiday before you travel.
