Maslina Resort, a stunning, award-winning, Relais & Chateaux mindful luxury property located near Stari Grad, on the island of Hvar, Croatia, is delighted to announce the new appointment of Chef Serge Gouloumès as Head Chef.

Hailing from southwestern France, Chef Serge Gouloumès has always been fascinated by the art of culinary. He recalls having an appetite for cooking as early as 11 years old – a passion that has defined his career. With over 30 years of experience at a vast range of international locations, his career began under the tutelage of the world-renowned Patrick Terrail in Beverly Hills, California, as Chef des Cuisines at the four-star Hotel Ma Maison. Following a return to Europe, Chef Serge Gouloumès worked in some of the world’s most famous kitchens across France and Switzerland, including the Royal Plaza Hotel Luxe and Hotel Restaurant Le Mas Candille gaining invaluable experience from the best chefs in the world, many of whom earned Michelin star status. It was at the latter, that Chef Serge Gouloumès was awarded his first Michelin star in 2005. Gaining an outstanding professional reputation his career went from strength to strength and in November 2019, Chef Serge Gouloumès was awarded the Culinary Heritage Prize by the esteemed Gault & Millau Guide. He has continued to share this unparalleled knowledge and expertise on French cuisine by writing and producing three cookbooks: La Provence et la Côte d’Azur and Carnet Provence de cuisine, and his third book, Un livre à regarder, d’esquisses en délices published in 2013.

Travelling has substantially influenced his culinary skills in a substantial way, allowing Chef Serge Gouloumès to develop exciting flavour combinations that impart original qualities to dishes leading him to create modern, fresh-tasting and innovative menus for Maslina Resort using simple, seasonal ingredients, leaving a lasting impact on the dining experiences.

As each element is hand-picked from the resort’s spa garden, the menu changes every day depending on what vegetables, fruits and herbs are in season. The meat and fish are sourced and purchased from local farmers and fishermen, showcasing a cornucopia of ingredients from Hvar’s land and sea.

“I am delighted to begin my new role as Head Chef at the award-winning Maslina Resort. The hotel’s unique mindful luxury philosophy will be evident in every single one of the dishes I create. Using only the very best organic vegetables and herbs from the garden and locally sourced fish and meats to prepare dishes that are attractive to the eye and delight the palate. Mindfulness is a way of life and I am very much looking forward to being part of such a positive team and outstanding concept”. Enthuses Chef Serge Gouloumès.
