Melco Resorts & Entertainment is committed to promoting Chinese cultural knowledge, history, economy and patriotism as part of its social responsibility.

Forming part of a multitude of Melco’s initiatives for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Company is title sponsor of the Melco Han Hero – 4th Macau Youth Chinese Knowledge Competition for the fourth consecutive year in collaboration with the event’s organizer Macau Youth Education Promotion Association.

The competition aims to instill national education, knowledge and patriotism in Chinese culture amongst young people in Macau, and forms part of Melco’s signature Splendors of China learning program. With its objectives to strengthen participants’ Chinese reading, writing, and language abilities, as well as enhancing knowledge of national education through culture and language, a total of 42 participants from 14 teams from local primary and secondary schools took part in the 2-day competition hosted at Studio City between June 5-6.

The event’s officiating guests Mr. Yi Jianjun, Political Work Department, Deputy Director of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Garrison in Macau; Mr. Zheng Hanwu, Assistant to the Department of Education and Youth Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region; Mr. Mao Lei, Director of People’s Daily Macao SAR Branch; Mr. Lei Pui Lam, Contest General Counsel, Decoration of Honour, Golden Lotus; Dr. Ching Cheng Fai, Winner of Medalha de Mérito Cultural, Renowned Chinese Linguist and udge of the Competition; Ms. Paula Ling, Member of The National People’s Congress; Mr. Wong Ka Ki, Head of Department of Non-Tertiary Education, Education and Youth Development Bureau; Mr. Lao Ngai Leong, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Deputy of the 13th NPC and the Head of the Macau Delegation; Ms. Chan Hong, President of The Chinese Educators Association of Macau; Mr. Chou lan Kua, Representative of Post, Telegraph and Telephones Office and Mr. Loi Lun Sun, Standing Committee Member of Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and President of Friendship Association of Members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Fujian Province in Macao were welcomed to the event by Dr. Kent Wong, Chief Advisor of Melco Resorts & Entertainment.

We strive to continue supporting the government’s efforts towards promoting the notion of ‘Loving the Country, Loving Macau’ as we continue to advocate culture, tradition and national education amongst the youth of Macau.”

To support the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Melco has prioritized national education and developed a vast array of programs aimed towards instilling national pride through education and awareness.

Exciting new initiatives for Melco’s 15,000 colleagues instilling a greater understanding of the Motherland include the Melco Splendors of China Passport – a curriculum comprising mandatory courses on Chinese culture, history, and idioms. Elective activities include visits to national exhibits and online courses on Chinese fine arts and cultural education. Upon completion of the passport activities, colleagues will be eligible for entry to a prize draw for a free trip for Red Tourism sponsored by the company.

Splendors of China is Melco’s nationalistic learning program launched in 2016 which focuses on China’s cultural heritage, economic policies, social systems and values. The program creates deeper insight for Melco colleagues and the broader community into understanding Chinese culture and appreciating the achievements of Macau’s mother country.
