Laucala Island, an exclusive private island paradise set in the Fijian Pacific archipelago, has unveiled a stylish interior makeover valued at FJ$5 million. Lynne Hunt London, who has worked on the resort’s initial design and launched a decade ago, was thrilled to work with the resort again to style the interior to match the stunning flora and fauna of their idyllic Fijian environment.

“The design for Laucala is unique and we wanted to maintain that aesthetic but bring in some contemporary and interesting design details,” says Hunt. “Proportions were played with typical Laucala styling, oversize pots and day beds that provide the ultimate luxury and escape. Quirky and unique pieces of furniture were sourced, or custom designed from South East Asia, along with custom printed vintage style pacific art fabrics in custom colors from Australia”.

As comfort is of paramount importance to guests at Laucala Island, they created new canopy structures with gently swathed draperies accompanied by generously sized beach beds positioned by the lagoon pool, on their private beaches, decks and at guest villas.

New bar trays, glassware, playful wicker armchairs and wicker artwork panels have also been added to the villas. As well as soft organic shaped rugs designed to complement the custom made fabrics. Enhanced lighting has been introduced to create a soft and inviting ambient mood and guest experience.

Laucala Island’s restaurants are all unique, each with its own identity enhanced by their special locations and design.

The casual Beach Bar guest dining  experience has been enhanced  by the addition of sunken beach seating areas and chill out zones around the perimeter of the lagoon with exotic print fabrics inspired by the abundant flora on the island in shades of the sun with a bitter orange and a chocolate brown shadow.

Perched on top of a hill and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Rock Lounge is the perfect location to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or cocktail. Here huge teardrop pendant lights with a red lighting hue have been introduced, comfortable organic shaped sofas to relax in along with stone stools, root tree coffee tables, and chairs, stone tables and wicker chairs, all complemented with large scale stone lanterns.

Guests enter the Seagrass Restaurant by a meandering Tiki Torch lit bridge to be greeted by a table laden with contorted teak bowls. The casual seating lower lounge’s custom Yin & Yang beds overlook the ocean, where they can experience the new lounge dining concept enjoying delicious Pan-Asian tapas and cocktails among an abundant setting of banana plants nestled in giant pots, house lanterns and a profusion of flowers and fruits on display.  The upper dining terrace’s  stylish wicker armchairs have been cushioned  with a contemporary tapa style fabric in shades of jungle green, teal and corn silk yellow, this attention to detail extends to the table top with organic style plates in yellow, deep aqua and chocolate. While the unique wicker lighting fixtures create an intimate dining experience. The Pool Bar has also undergone a subtle transformation, with natural wicker armchairs, teak tables, over-sized pots and beautiful lanterns with floating candles.
