Vehicle rental company Hertz has announced the first in a series of innovative capabilities to enhance the user experience for its Australian customers.

Hertz has recently rolled out the first update which enables customers to digitally sign rental agreements on their phone or a tablet.

An electronic version of the rental agreement is sent as a link via email or SMS, where it can then be reviewed, digitally signed and returned to Hertz. Customers are then able to download a copy of the rental agreement on the spot or access it any time via Hertz’s My Journey Portal.

Previously, rental agreements could only be signed in person at a Hertz branch. The benefits of this new improvement include cutting down on paperwork to decrease Hertz’s carbon footprint, streamlining processes and reducing contact at branches, for greater customer and employee safety.

Eoin MacNeill, Vice President of Hertz across the Asia Pacific, said: “We are passionate about providing a great customer experience including introducing new innovations, services and capabilities. We are pleased to announce our latest one – digital signature capture.

“With more people opting to get out on the road to explore what’s on their doorstep in the wake of the global pandemic, our number one priority has been to enhance the safety of our customers and staff by going touchless.

“The introduction of digital signatures keeps personal contact to a minimum, as well as making the car hire process even more safe, fast and easy.”

The capability to digitally sign rental agreements is available to customers at all Hertz locations in Australia with the exception of Brisbane airport, which is expected to be added at a later date.

Hertz will be announcing further enhancements over the next couple of months.
