Rounding out nine core beers in its flagship range, Hemingway’s Brewery introduced two new brews at a special industry event in its Cairns Brew House over the weekend.

According to Hemingway’s Breweries Head Brewer Anthony Clem it was hoteliers and representatives from independent bottle shops and liquor distributors who were given the first official taste of their highly anticipated Tropical Ale and West Coast IPA.

Like all Hemingway’s craft beers, the newest additions are not just ‘great tasting ales to enjoy with a view’, they come with a colourful story connecting them to the local region and its folk lore.

With its aromatic notes of pineapple and juicy citrus, 7th Heaven Tropical Ale is easy drinking with low bitterness levels and a bright, pale golden finish.

“7th Heaven is without question a very refreshing and ‘sessionable’ beer,” Mr Clem said.

Whereas 7th Heaven is on the lighter side, The Endeavour West Coast IPA provides a big hop-hit which Mr Clem says is balanced with a distinctive pine and citrus aroma.

“Reddish amber in colour, we have used Simcoe and Mosaic hops with rye malt for smoothness for a drinkability that belies its 7.4 per cent alcohol content.”

Named after Captain James Cook’s fair lady, HMS Endeavour who together, chartered the challenging waters of the Great Barrier Reef, this West Coast IPA celebrates persistence and the unbreakable bond of a bloke and his boat.
