The team at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium needs your help sourcing Christmas presents for the sassy seals and playful penguins!

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast’s Mammals and Penguin Manager, Carla Haskell, is looking for inspiration for Christmas gifts that the seals, sea lions and little blue penguins will flippin’ love!

Carla is asking you to comment on this Facebook post with your idea for the perfect present to go into the draw to win a Penguin Encounter for 2 people*. Carla and her elves will choose the best suggestions and write a letter to Santa on behalf of the cute creatures.

“So far this year the penguins have played with bubbles, mirrors, baubles and a laser game. The seals have been having fun with waterfalls, hoses, ice blocks and mirrored balls. Now we think it’s time for some new treats and we are looking for inspiration for some festive fun!” said Carla.

After Santa delivers the presents, the seals and penguins will be treated to a special Christmas enrichment session with all their new toys.

The gift suggestions will need to abide by certain safety requirements. The seals or penguins cannot be provided with any activities that; can injure or entangle them, have sharp edges, break easily or can be swallowed.

A role of a penguin and seal keeper isn’t limited to veterinary care and feeding; it is also important to provide various enrichment activities for the penguins and seals in order to encourage natural behaviours as well as physical and mental stimulation.

The aquarium is currently open from Thursday – Monday and will reopen 7 days per week during the Queensland school holidays. All visitors must pre-book their tickets online in advance.
