Brisbane native Hayden Hughes [he sounds Welsh to me!] has been appointed to one of the top hotel GM roles in Australia, as GM of the iconic Hilton Sydney in Sydney’s CBD, now back in Sydney for the second time in his career, with Hayden most recently having been GM Sofitel Brisbane Central.

Hayden said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to join such an internationally renowned brand to lead the iconic hotel that is Hilton Sydney, with the opportunity irresistible,” adding, “The timing could not be more perfect as we gear up for what we hope is a big year for the hotel in 2021.”

A 30-year hospitality veteran, Hayden began his career with Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove with six years in operations, moving to management positions at hotels on the Gold Coast, Tokyo, Japan and in Brisbane, with Hayden moving into his first GM role at Novotel Melbourne on Collins in 2010 and then as GM at Accor’s Darling Harbour, Sydney hotels, before his return to Brisbane.

One of Australia’s iconic hotel properties, Hilton Sydney has 587 guest rooms, 3,786 square meters of event space, an indoor swimming pool, a chef’s hatted restaurant run by celebrity chef, Luke Mangan, two bars including the 127 year old underground and heritage listed Marble Bar, and the largest hotel gym in Australia, Fitness First Pitt St Platinum, and much more, with Hilton Sydney  located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD at 488 George St, Sydney, NSW 2000.
