The man that Rolling Stone magazine called the creator of “rock’s greatest single body of riffs” on guitar, Keith Richards – affectionately nicknamed ‘Keef’ – turns 75 on Tuesday 18 December 2018.
Musician and songwriter, Richards is best known as a founding member of legendary rock band The Rolling Stones and for playing both lead and rhythm guitars, often during the same song.
The birthday boy’s rock ’n’ roll artefacts are currently on display at the International Convention Centre Sydney until February 3, as part of Exhibitionism – The Rolling Stones Exhibit, delivered by DHL, featuring over 500 Stones’ items documenting 50 years of the greatest rock band of all time.
Exhibitionism includes memories of Richards’ life and musical career, from meticulous notes on early performances, rehearsals and payments in a small diary he kept, through to lyric books and a gallery of his own guitars. Richards can also be seen performing with his Stones’ band mates in the 3D concert within the exhibit.
“While this is about The Rolling Stones, it’s not necessarily only just about us,” said Richards of Exhibitionism. “It’s also about all the paraphernalia and technology associated with a group like us, and it’s this, as well as the instruments that have passed through our hands over the years, that should make the exhibition unforgettable.”
