Silence continues to be a precious commodity, especially in this challenging year, which is why The Spas at Mandarin Oriental are ‘turning down the volume’ once again with their annual ‘Silent Night’ on 9 December 2020.

In addition to the standard wellness menu, the spas will offer mindful treatments such as guided mediation, singing bowl experiences and deep sleep applications.   Talking and music will cease within the spas at 5pm, to instil a sense of peace and allow for individual contemplation and mindfulness.

In advance of 9 December, the Group will host a virtual three-part Silent Night mediation series. Each episode provides a different approach to meditation and reflection including Stress and the Relaxation Response: Guided RelaxationHow to Regain Control: Guided Breath-work, and The Beauty of Mindfulness: Tools for a Restorative Sleep. The series will debut live on 18 November through the Group’s Instagram via InstaStories at 9pm Hong Kong time (1pm London or 8am EST) with subsequent livestreams at the same time on 25 November and 2 December. This series will then be made available on the Group’s YouTube channel.

“During this time of unparalleled stress and anxiety, we want to create a space where people can press the pause button and have some time to think, meditate or just take a break from being inundated with noise” said Jeremy McCarthy, Group Director of Spa & Wellness.   “Since debuting Silent Night in 2017, we have seen consumer interest in mental wellbeing grow significantly.  This annual ritual in our spas serves as an important reminder to incorporate stillness and rest into our busy lives. The virtual meditation series will bring Mandarin Oriental’s wellness expertise into the homes of those guests that are not able to visit our spas in person during this time, wherever they may be in the world.”

Scheduled Silent Night activity includes; sleep treatments at Mandarin Oriental properties in London, Prague, Hong Kong and Bangkok; meditation classes in Jakarta, Beijing, Paris, Miami and Canouan as well as singing bowl therapies in Guangzhou, Taipei and Singapore.
