To help Australians plan ahead for the return of international travel, luxury European cruise line, Riviera Travel River Cruises, has fast-tracked the release here of a selection of departures across Europe for 2022.

This is the earliest a program has ever been released in the cruise line’s 36-year history.

Rivera Travel has released for sale 114 sailings across 11 itineraries across Europe in 2022 – around one third of the entire 2022 program which will be released in full in early 2021.

UK-based Riviera Travel River Cruises has also extended its ‘Sense of Calm’ flexible booking policy to December 31, 2020, with new bookings made until then able to be changed, free of charge, up to 45 days before sailing.

Riviera Travel River Cruises International Sales Manager, Shelley Davey, said the 2022 program was expected to fill quickly due to pent up demand. “The shift in so many bookings from planned 2020 sailings to future departures means 2022 will fill more quickly than usual so the advice is to book now while there’s still space.”

The 2022 program will feature Riviera Travel’s latest five-star river ship, the 169-guest Geoffrey Chaucer, named after the 14th Century poet. The all-suite ship offers spacious staterooms – most with French balconies – a panoramic lounge, two restaurants, gourmet, locally inspired cuisine, gym and plunge pool (heated, jacuzzi-like in winter). The new ship reaffirms Riviera Travel’s fleet as one of the youngest in Europe, with no ship older than six years.

The new 2022 program also includes Riviera Travel’s recently launched, eight-day ‘Amsterdam, Cologne and the Best of Holland and Flanders’ river cruise from Amsterdam to Cologne, showcasing the canals, windmills, palaces and cultural highlights of Holland, the cobbled, medieval streetscapes of Belgium and the Gothic marvels of Cologne in Germany.

In 2022, Riviera Travel’s 12 luxury ships will offer a total of 20 itineraries across Europe including journeys along the Rhine, Moselle, Danube, Seine, Rhone and Douro rivers as well as Yuletide Market cruises and new Christmas and New Year itineraries.

Renowned for catering for solo travellers, Riviera Travel will also offer a range of dedicated departures in 2022 exclusively for solo travellers, with no single supplement. Riviera Travel will again reserve a selection of supplement-free cabins for solo travellers on all its departures in 2022.

Cruises just released for 2022 range in length from five to 15 days, with fares starting from A$1799 per person, twin-share, or also for solo guests (subject to cabin availability) for a five-day ‘Amsterdam, Kinderdijk and the Dutch Bulbfields’ itinerary through the waterways of Holland.

In 2022, the popular, eight-day ‘Blue Danube’ cruise, round-trip from Budapest, is available from A$3069 per person, twin-share, or also for solo guests (subject to cabin availability) while the classic, 15-day ‘Heart of Europe’ cruise from Cologne to Budapest is available from A$8169 per person, twin-share, or also for solo guests (subject to cabin availability).

Fares include shore tours as well as free Wi-Fi.  Known for offering exceptional value and flexibility, Riviera Travel doesn’t automatically include gratuities or drinks in fares, giving guests more freedom and choice.
