The team at Muri Beach Club Hotel – the Cook Islands’ most celebrated adults-only hotel – is inviting travellers to dust off their suitcases and make the most of the recently announced travel bubble with New Zealand by booking a stay at the intimate, waterfront oasis.

The modern hotel is located in Muri Beach on the country’s largest island, Rarotonga, a quick 25-minute drive from the airport; and an easy four-hour flight from Auckland.

Muri Beach Club Hotel General Manager, Liana Scott, said one of the most appealing things about the Cook Islands, in addition to its balmy, thrillingly remote and laid back atmosphere, is the sense of freedom and normalcy it affords travellers.

“People have missed roaming and exploring, and feeling relaxed. We can offer them that and so much more,” she said. “I think being able to see that very little changes in the islands, that we’re still the happy-go-lucky, humorous people who know how to have good time and make the best out of very little will be like a soothing balm for our guests.”

Liana said Muri Beach Club Hotel was one of the few properties that remained opened throughout the COVID period – primarily to keep staff morale high and to cater to locals.

“We kept ourselves busy during the quiet time by serving locals breakfast, lunch and dinner. We still had our Cook Islands Games, dance festivals, triathlon, pool parties, sunset sessions and special events,” she explained. “We made sure we kept our fingers on the pulse and the hotel up to the highest standards, and now we’re ready and rearing to ramp things up for our friends from New Zealand.”

According to Liana, travellers can expect a safe trip to the island nation, as both the Cook Islands and the hotel have stringent COVID-safe practices in place, including social distancing and thorough hygiene procedures.

Situated on Rarotonga’s most prestigious beachfront – Muri Lagoon – Muri Beach Club Hotel boasts all the amenities one needs for a relaxing holiday, including spacious, well-appointed rooms, a large central swimming pool, day beds and sun loungers, Cocktail Lagoon Lounge, Silver Sands Restaurant & Bar, Beauty & Spa, and an aqua centre.

For those seeking a nature-infused experience, the region is renowned for its natural beauty and offers plenty of outdoor activities, such as exploring sparkling lagoons, spectacular jungle caves, untouched coves and white-sand beaches.
