If the World Surf League Corona Open at JBay currently has you feeling like catching a wave, or a flight, to discover some of the world’s best surf hotspots, it’s time to grab your board and head to the Philippines. With its 30,000km coastline, you’re never far from a swell.

Whether you’re a regular or a goofy, a rookie or a pro, the Philippines is home to a myriad of surf breaks, and from now until Sunday 14th July, Cebu Pacific can fly you there from as low as $169-one way.*
The Philippines has over 7,000 islands, so the trickiest part of your adventure will be deciding where to catch a wave. To see you carve up the waves of the Philippines, Cebu Pacific is sharing its top three surfing locations.
  • Siargao, is known as the surfing capital of the Philippines and ranked top ten in the world for its barrels. If that wasn’t enough to get you frothing, Siargao is also home to the annual Cloud 9 Surfing Cup, an event many surfers will be very familiar with. Rumour has it, the event will be back this year, so get booking for October to watch some of the world’s best surfers showcase their moves.
Cebu Pacific offers daily flights direct to Siargao from Manila.
  • Baler. Don’t let the five-hour drive from Manila put you off visiting this hidden gem. With its breathtaking long coastline, which featured in the Vietnam war movie “Apocalypse Now”, it is home to an array of beaches for all surfing abilities.  If you’re a beginner, then head to the calm waves at Sabang Beach, but if you’re looking to chase the monster waves, Cemento Beach and its 14 feet high waves are for you.
  • La Union is around a four-hour drive north of Manila and definitely worth checking out if you’re looking to surf and live like a local. Key spots to catch a break include Bacnotan and Darigayos, both known for their rad swells from May – September, so you won’t leave disappointed.  Plus if you’re looking to upskill your surf, there’s even a six day surf camp you can join.

*Seat sale runs from July 9th – July 14th. Prices started from $169 one way from Melbourne to Manila and $209 from Sydney to Manila. Travel must be between August 1st – December 31st.
