From 21st to 24th October, the European Golf Tour will see the Majorca Golf Open return to the island for the first time in ten years at Calvià’s Santa Ponça golf course.
The course was designed in 1977 and has hosted a wealth of prestigious tournaments, with the upcoming open becoming its eighth. The last time the course hosted a European Tour event was in 1998, with winners including Severiano Ballesteros, Miguel Angel Jiménez and Ove Selberg.
The region will welcome up to 144 competitors and their families to stay on the island and enjoy all it has to offer, with the prize winner awarded an impressive 1 million euros. The tournament will be televised and will reach approximately 678 million households in 167 countries.
Rocío Nigorra, president of Golf Santa Ponça, tells the Spanish Golf Federation, “at Golf Santa Ponça we are delighted to have a European Tour event again” she continues, “We believe that this is a particularly important time to organise this great international tournament in Majorca, for everyone to enjoy. We are very happy to welcome all players, volunteers and sports lovers to participate and enjoy with us the great game of golf at its best. We are convinced that it will be another step in the success story of golf in Majorca”.

From 4th to 7th November, Calvià will also host the Grand Final of the Rolex Challenge Tour Road to Majorca at the T-Golf & Country Club.
