With Sri Lanka reeling under a massive 57% tourism downturn, the travel industry is setting out to do something to help fix the situation – and active adventures company Exodus Travels is in the forefront, offering a handsome discount to attract agents and clients.

Exodus Travels is encouraging agents to send their clients back to Sri Lanka by offering 15% off tours.  The 15% off is for bookings made between 16 July and 2 August 2019, for travel prior to 30 April 2020.

Australasia territory manager for Exodus, Lou Day, explained that Sri Lankan Tourism declined 57% in June this year compared to June 2018.

“This has caused a huge blow to the 2.5 million residents whose livelihood depends either directly or indirectly on tourism,” he said.

“We want to encourage Australians to now return to Sri Lanka.”

Bringing travellers back is seen as an endorsement in Sri Lanka’s efforts to recover. The return of visitors will make a positive contribution to the local economy, benefiting everyone from a tuk tuk driver to a local guide or food and souvenir seller, who all rely on tourist spending.

Exodus is offering a selection of nine different itineraries across the beautiful island nation which are now on sale together with the company’s trips in India & Nepal until 2 August 2019.
