El Mangroove, Autograph Collection and Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection have reopened as of July 1st, 2020 and November 1st respectively, just as Costa Rica drops travel restrictions on U.S. visitors. Guests returning to both properties will find renovated facilities and refreshed experiences, ranging from enhancements to the spa and wellness programs as well as new culinary offerings. Both resorts have also announced plans for future renovations to their gardens, guestrooms, and social areas.

At Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection, Nanku Spa has a refreshed wellness concept as well as a new menu of offerings inspired by the area’s Chorotega ancestors and thalasso (climotherapy.) Rooted in the hotel’s desire to provide a complete wellness experience to its guests, the Spa has become a destination onto itself with multifaceted offerings designed to promote wellbeing of body, mind and spirit. In addition to the spa, both of the resort’s dining venues, Alma Restaurant and Aura Beach Club now offer new concepts and cuisine. Centered around the concept of sustainable gastronomy, the ingredients used to make t signature dishes at each restaurant will be sourced from within less than one kilometer from the property in order to create synergy between the property, local producers and the community and to give guests a true taste of Costa Rica’s finest local produce.

El Mangroove, Autograph Collection is a contemporary boutique hotel nestled in between the mangroves and the beaches of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The resort features the heavenly Bearth Spa, as well as two farm-to-table style dining venues, Matiss and Makoko. El Mangroove captures the simple yet exotic character of the region, with natural wood furnishings, regional artwork, splashes of color and beautiful stone finishes. The 85 bohemian-chic guest suites are surrounded by forest, beach and mangroves and located just steps from the ocean.  The spacious rooms’ seamlessly transition between indoor and outdoor living inspiring guests’ sense of adventure and encourages them to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer.

No matter which resort guests choose, they can easily immersive themselves in nature, as both properties are located in areas of rich biodiversity and considered part of Costa Rica’s famed Blue Zone. Exploration and excitement is all around with available activities such as canopy ziplines, kayaking, and horseback riding for more active guests, as well as cooking and mixology classes for the more epicurean-focused traveler. El Mangroove offers onsite boat rides and tours, exclusively available for guests to get to know the parts of Costa Rica which are only accessible by water. Guests can spend the day splashing around with friends and family and snorkeling nearby pods of dolphins. The hotel can also arrange a private barbecue or picnic on the beach so guests can maximize their time soaking up the sun and surf.

On November 1, the Costa Rican government authorized all U.S. travelers to enter Costa Rica without proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. After completing a “health pass” form and showing proof of travel medical insurance, both of which they can obtain upon arrival, visitors will be permitted to travel freely throughout the country. The health and safety of guests continues to be of the utmost importance to both El Mangroove, Autograph Collection and Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection. As part of Marriott International, both properties have instituted elevated cleanliness practices and standards in accordance with the Marriott’s Global Cleanliness Council and Commitment to Clean.
