The former CMV cruise ship Vasco de Gama, which was an Aussie favourite and now owned by Mystic Cruises and sailing under the Nicko Cruises brand, will spend her inaugural cruise season for the German brand sailing from German ports.

The company has announced that Vasco de Gama will sail cruises between May and September from Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Kiel, with Guido Laukamp, managing director, Nicko Cruises, saying, “With the departures to and from Germany, we enable our guests to travel to and from comfortably and safely,” adding, “We are responding to the needs and wishes of our customers in these current times.”

Among the highlights is a 15-day cruise to the North Cape in July and there are also sailings from Germany to the Baltic throughout the season, with one sailing in September from Bremerhaven to England, Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, a 15-day cruise to the  British Isles, Scottish Highlands, the Irish cities of Cork and Dublin and in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

While Aussies cannot travel overseas yet, hopefully by the northern hemisphere summer they may be able to.
