The Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, one of the region’s most scenic and recognisable golfing venues, has joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

Frequently described as the ‘Pebble Beach of Asia’, the Clearwater Bay course juts out on a rocky peninsula at the southern-most tip of the larger Sai Kung Peninsula, surrounded by sea on three sides.

While the club’s signature hole (number three) has been selected as one of the ‘500 Best Holes in the World’, Clearwater Bay’s 18-hole course has hosted a variety of local and international tournaments, including the Men’s and Women’s Open Amateur Championships of Hong Kong, Omega PGA Championship, the PGA Tour Series – China ‘The Clearwater Bay Open’, the 2011 Southeast Asian Amateur Team Championship for the Putra Cup and the 2015 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

Last year, Clearwater Bay witnessed the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation Junior Championship and the Hong Kong Junior Classic.

The Club is also well-known for its Community Outreach Programme. Since 2003, Clearwater Bay has raised more than HK$129 million in support of the fund-raising and service initiatives of its charity partners.

Meanwhile, the Club continues to invest in course conditioning. “Improvements to the golf course have proceeded apace over the past year with enhancements to the driving range and the Clearwater Bay Academy course,” said Mark Chan, Committee Chairman and Golf Captain at Clearwater Bay, where the Club’s ambassadors include rising Hong Kong golf star Matthew Cheung.

Cheung said: “I feel extremely honoured to have been selected as a Club Ambassador. It is my favourite club in Asia and a dream come true to be able to use its world-class facilities on a daily basis. I feel proud, knowing that I’m representing one of the best clubs in the world.”

Eric Lynge, the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Clearwater Bay is known around the world as a truly spectacular venue. We welcome Clearwater Bay as a Golf Course Facility Member of the Federation and look forward to their participation in our various events.”
