AFTA is pleased to confirm that Courtney Duddleston, Head of Strategy and Finance, will join the Industry Reference Committee (IRC) with Skills IQ to represent the interests of AFTA members and the broader travel industry in all considerations as they relate to skills, education and the National Training Framework going forward.

Chief Executive Jayson Westbury said “We would like to thank Rick Myatt for his service to AFTA in this role over many years and wish him well. AFTA will be taking a more direct responsibility for this representation by way of a member of the AFTA Leadership Team in Courtney as we go forward”.

To build on this change, AFTA is hosting a Travel Skills Roundtable with key members of the travel distribution industry to discuss the appropriate settings for Certificate III Travel and Certificate IV Travel (yet to be confirmed) today (Tuesday 3rd September) in Brisbane and will look to take a joint and agreed position going forward for the good of the industry.

“AFTA knows how important skills training and the settings that the government deploys is for the future of travel agency owners and those whom may wish to join the industry, and this why we have today embedded ourselves more directly with members’ interests in mind”. said Westbury.

AFTA remains committed to education and training as a key pillar for AFTA, our members, future employees of the industry and other stakeholders and remains resolved to ensure that the industry’s interests are on the front foot at every turn.

More announcements regarding the direct involvement of AFTA in the education and training arena will be made over the coming month as AFTA develops its internal resources and brings the travel industry and members forward together on these important topics for the industry’s future.
