Co-organized by Melco Resorts & Entertainment and the Macau Motosurf Association, the 2025 UIM Macao Grand Prix MotoSurf World Championship Finale will return to Hac Sa Beach from November 21–23. Building on the momentum of last year’s landmark event and sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), this high-octane water sports event continues to position Macau as a growing hub for international marine sports and tourism.

This year’s race marks the fifth and final stop of the UIM MotoSurf World Championship global tour, following rounds in Fujairah (UAE), Turkey, Italy, and Croatia. For the first time, the Macau finale will expand into a coastal cultural festival, including food booths, interactive beach activities, children’s creative workshops, and sponsor activations under the newly launched “Coastal Market” concept.

A press conference was held today at City of Dreams to announce the details of the Macau MotoSurf World Championship Finale. The event was attended by Mr. Andrew Vong, Head of the Macau Grand Prix and Major Sporting Events Department of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Ms. Michelle Ip, Head of the Tourism Product and Events Department of the Macao Government Tourism Office; Mr. Lao Se Keng, Substitute Chief of the Maritime Services Division of the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Mr. Clarence Chung, Board Director of Melco Resorts & Entertainment; Ms. Irene Ho, President of the Macau Motosurf Association; Mr. Martin Jančálek, Director of Motorsurf World Championship; and Ms. Zhang Mei, President of Wanda Sports Group Limited.

Mr. Clarence Chung, Board Director of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said, “We are proud to bring the Motosurf World Championship Finale back to Macau with even more momentum and creativity this year, and we look forward to welcoming the world’s best MotoSurf athletes, fans, and families to the shores of Hac Sa. Melco strives to bring a diverse range of sports activities to Macau, allowing residents and tourists to experience a wider range of sports, thereby deepening the cross-sector integration of ‘tourism + sports’ and enriching the tourism experience. We will continue to support and collaborate with the SAR Government to promote economic diversification, showcasing the city’s diverse charm, and to attract more tourists to Macau.”

From Global Stage to National Spotlight

Last year’s event saw significant breakthroughs: the women’s class champion of the 2024 Macau race became the first official qualifier for the 2025 Chengdu World Games. The race was also attended by senior government officials and supported by leading corporate sponsors.

This year, the Macau Motosurf Association has deepened its strategic collaboration with Qingdao Sailing Sport School, under the General Administration of Sport of China. The collaboration aims to develop elite Chinese athletes in the MotoSurf discipline — with outstanding performers eligible for recommendation to join the Chinese national team. At this year’s World Games in Chengdu, the Macau and Qingdao co-trained athlete Zhang Maozhu clinched the silver medal in the men’s competition—marking China’s first podium finish in international MotoSurf racing. His performance reflects the rapid rise of China’s national talent pipeline and highlights Macau’s role as an emerging training and competition platform in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.

Ms. Irene Ho, President of the Macau Motosurf Association, said, “Our collaboration with Qingdao Water Sports School has been transformative. We’re proud to serve as a launchpad for emerging talent — not just as hosts of international races, but as a bridge into the national training system. We welcome all future stars to train, race, and rise from Macau.”
