Spread the love
In the heart of Rajasthan, where the golden expanse of the Thar Desert stretches across the horizon, a unique destination quietly redefines the art of travel. Mharo Khet is not just a resort, it’s a 40-acre organic farm retreat offering immersive, intentional stays that honour the rhythms of the land and the soul of rural India. What began as a family-run farm cultivating medicinal plants has evolved into a transformative hospitality experience, where food, design, nature, and culture converge with purposeful hospitality.

A new kind of hospitality takes root in Rajasthan
Mharo Khet is a regenerative oasis born from a family vision and shaped during the stillness of the pandemic. What began as a personal project was transformed into a chemical-free, regenerative farm, opening its gates to the public in 2021 with curated farm tours and culinary experiences. The farm welcomed its first full visitor season in 2022, quickly establishing itself as a destination for mindful travel and authentic connection. Now, in 2025, Mharo Khet enters a new chapter with the launch of 10 private cottages designed for immersive overnight stays after a soft opening in May and a full opening in September.

Sleep into stillness
Mharo Khet invites guests to slow down and reconnect with nature, with food, and with themselves. Each cottage is designed with thoughtful simplicity and natural elegance. Constructed with local materials and inspired by vernacular desert architecture, the cottages blend seamlessly into the landscape. Just a step outside the room takes guests into fields of fresh produce, desert grasses, and the gentle rhythm of farm life. This is not simply a resort. It is an immersive experience where every detail, from the architecture to the daily rituals, is thoughtfully shaped by the land. Guests are encouraged to wander, harvest, rest under a khejri tree, or watch the light shift over the desert horizon.

Farm-to-table culinary journey
At the heart of the retreat is Paeru, a nine-course, open-air dining experience nestled within a guava orchard. The cuisine is plant-forward and guided not by tradition or fusion, but by what is fresh, seasonal, and thriving in the soil. Each dish is part of a poetic progression, inspired by different stages of life, from childhood memories to quiet reflections of age. The result is both grounded and imaginative: 95% of the ingredients are grown on the farm, chemical-free and harvested just hours before being served. Every course tells a story of flavour, of landscape, and of care.

Curated experiences beyond the ordinary

Mharo Khet offers more than restful stays and exquisite food. Each day is filled with small, meaningful encounters. Guests can take part in complimentary farm walks, learning about regenerative agriculture while sampling edible flowers and sun-warmed vegetables. They can join cooking classes using foraged ingredients, or mix garden-grown infusions into cocktails during a hands-on masterclass.
There are moments of stillness, such as traditional Indian head massages beneath blooming trees, and moments of cultural connection, including intimate folk music performances by Manganiyar musicianscreative workshops in miniature painting and charpoy weaving, as well as yoga and meditation sessions held in the natural surroundings.
The story behind Mharo Khet
Mharo Khet is a family project built on passion, resilience, and vision. It was founded by Rajnush Agarwal, a biomedical engineer, and Vedika Prasad, a psychology graduate and former athlete. What began during the pandemic as a small farm for medicinal plants evolved into a community food initiative, then into farm tours, and now into a full-scale, design-led hospitality experience.
The couple’s shared love for farming, food, sustainability, and design is visible in every aspect of the retreat.

Mharo Khet represents a new direction in Indian hospitality: intentional, intimate, and deeply local. It is a refreshing alternative to the polished sameness of many luxury resorts, a place where art, agriculture, and soul come together. The retreat tells a story of land and legacy, of innovation and slowness, of desert landscapes and blooming possibilities. It is a rare find: authentic yet elevated, rooted in tradition yet creatively forward-thinking. A place that speaks to those who value depth, beauty, and purpose in how and where they travel.
