In celebration of Small Business Month 2025, Cumberland City Council is honouring its strong and diverse small businesses with its biggest networking event of the year, Bite into Business. The event, being held on Tuesday 14 October from 5pm to 9pm at Regent Street Pavilion in Regents Park, provides an opportunity for local small business owners and entrepreneurs to meet, collaborate, and gain valuable insights from industry experts on how to adapt and thrive in a changing business environment.

Cumberland City Council’s small business sector plays a significant role in the social fabric and vibrancy of the local community and is a major driver of economic activity. With over 27,600 businesses in the area, a large percentage of which are small businesses, local entrepreneurs contribute essential goods and services, while driving employment, innovation, and community engagement. Their impact extends not only within Cumberland but also contributes to the overall quality of life and prosperity in Western Sydney.

Council is dedicated to cultivating a lively and resilient business environment and actively supports local businesses through a range of programs, events, and grants. These initiatives are designed to foster a strong sense of community within the business sector while attracting investment into Cumberland. Council recognises that small businesses are the backbone of the community, playing a vital role in shaping the region’s identity, vibrancy, and economic prosperity.

Cumberland Mayor Ola Hamed said that this type of networking event is crucial in fostering connections within the business community, and helps spark new ideas, joint ventures, and supply chain opportunities.

“We take great pride in our thriving, diverse economy in Cumberland, and are grateful for the essential goods and services that local businesses provide to our wider community. Networking events like these are invaluable for business owners, offering a vital platform to forge connections with other local enterprises and combat the isolation often felt by small business owners. As a Council, we are not just supporting local businesses, but we are also backing people with dreams, determination, and deep roots in our community. That’s what drives us,” said Mayor Hamed.

At this year’s Bite into Business event, attendees can look forward to a dynamic evening of connection and inspiration, meeting like-minded business owners, learning about branding, marketing, and business growth strategies, and enjoying drinks and canapés in a relaxed, social atmosphere. The event will also feature special guest, Australian TV chef Iain ‘Huey’ Hewitson, who will be hosting a live cooking demonstration, followed by a Q&A session and a meet & greet.
