Thailand’s elite hospitality and culinary circles gathered for an extraordinary gourmet event: A Culinary Journey into Yunnan Premium Mushroom, hosted at the iconic Sukhothai Bangkok Hotel. Timed perfectly with peak mushroom season, the immersive evening introduces Thailand’s HORECA (Hospitality & Restaurant) industry to Yunnan mushrooms’ rich, wild bounty.

Backed by powerhouse partners, including the Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Thailand and the Thai-Yunnan Chamber of Commerce, the event showcased the fusion of Chinese tradition with Thai culinary flair. The highlight was a spectacular mushroom feast co-created by leading Yunnan chefs and Thailand’s celebrated Chef Vanessa Wu.

The curated programme included:

  • Welcome speeches from Yunnan and Thai trade and government leaders
  • An insightful keynote on Yunnan’s mushroom industry by expert Dadi Wuyuan
  • Mushroom-infused networking with gourmet bites like truffle cream puffs and Termitomyces ice cream paired with Yunnan red wine and caviar

An impressive array of top-flight industry executives attended this unique and eye-opening event, including executives from Dusit, Centara, Minor Group, and leading retailers such as Tops and Villa Market.

Top chefs, culinary pundits, and senior officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Skål International were also in attendance.

The event was part of a global campaign to elevate Yunnan mushrooms into premium culinary markets, following successful showcases in Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai.

As Thailand continues to embrace gourmet innovation, Yunnan’s “forest-to-table” mushrooms are poised to become the next considerable delicacy on Thai menus.
