Spread the love

Smiles, strides, and rainbow pride light up Hua Hin’s coast. 🌈If you happened to be wandering along Hua Hin Beach on the first morning of June and were suddenly overtaken by a tide of tutus, terriers, and transcendental yoga mats, don’t panic—you hadn’t stumbled into a parallel universe. You were caught up in Thailand’s most heartening, human, and high-spirited Pride Month opener to date.

“Bluport Hua Hin: Start of Pride – Come as you are, leave with a healed heart,” was no mere marketing line. It was a living, breathing promise. And for two glorious days—and with activities spilling into the month—it delivered on that promise with grace, glitter and a good dose of groovy endorphins.

But let’s rewind just a little, shall we?

🧘‍♂️ A Parade with a Pulse—and a Peloton

This wasn’t your run-of-the-mill pride parade with a playlist and confetti cannon. No, this was Pride reimagined—filtered through the lens of wellness, soul-care, and inclusivity that doesn’t just embrace you—it hands you a smoothie and a yoga mat while it’s at it.

At the heart of it all was the Hua Hin Pride Walk & Run, which snaked along the city’s shoreline like a moving rainbow ribbon. The sea glittered, the sun beamed obligingly, and not even the breeze dared ruffle the mood.

Presiding over the event was former Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Suwat Liptapanlop, proving that even Thai political figures are capable of a little razzle-dazzle when it counts. Deputy Governor Preeda Sukjai delivered a rousing speech on equality—one that might have made the Buddha himself nod approvingly.

And the crowd? Oh, the crowd. A cocktail of humanity in all its glorious expressions. Locals, tourists, drag queens, bodybuilders, Shih Tzus in tutus. If there was ever a place on Earth to feel utterly accepted, it was here.

🎭 The Cast of Fabulous Characters

No Pride celebration is complete without a glitterati guest list, and Bluport did not disappoint.

On hand were beloved Thai personalities—Pingpong, Tina, Poppy, Mint, Silvy, Manao, Brian Tan, and the ever-electrifying Patcha. Each brought their signature spark, and together they lit up the event like fairy lights on a mango tree.

It was, as one attendee whispered to me between downward dogs, “the closest I’ve felt to joy in years.”

🕊️ A Festival of Feelings (and Flexibility)

The spiritual centrepiece of the event was undoubtedly the iWelty Wellness Experience, where mental health was elevated from an afterthought to a marquee attraction. Yoga, Pilates, and sound healing sessions took place beside swaying palms and under the careful instruction of experienced practitioners, proving that healing doesn’t need to be quiet or clinical. Sometimes, it smells like lemongrass and sounds like a steel drum.

There was also PRIDE TALK, where LGBTQIA+ trailblazers shared stories that cracked open hearts like coconuts. No filters. No apologies. Just pure, powerful storytelling. It was raw. It was necessary. And it left many in the audience quietly wiping away a tear or two, yours truly included.

Then there was the “Full of Heart Exhibition – Heal Your Heart, Lift Your Spirit.” A roomful of tenderness. A hug in gallery form. Here, visitors wandered through photographs, affirmations, and artworks—all soaked in self-love and communal hope. No one left unmoved. Some left radiant.

🎶 And Then Came Sarah…

When the sun dipped and the breeze cooled, singer Sarah Salola took the stage for a mini-concert that became an emotional crescendo—her voice, equal parts silk and strength, carried over the sea like a prayer. Couples embraced, strangers danced, and the whole night shimmered like a pearl in a cocktail glass.

It wasn’t about hitting the right notes. It was about lifting every voice. And lift it did.

🐾 Four Legs, Two Heels, All Welcome

In true Needham-approved fashion, let’s not forget the dogs. Yes, Bluport’s event was gloriously pet-friendly, a rare and wonderful thing in this part of the world. Seeing schnauzers in rainbow capes and pomeranians prancing down the promenade reminded us all that unconditional love often arrives on four legs.

Inclusivity, it seems, is not just a human endeavour.

🚩 A City with Heart (and Style)

More than a party, this was a cultural recalibration. Bluport Hua Hin didn’t just host Pride; it reshaped it—away from performative rainbow-washing and toward something sincere, nourishing, and unforgettable.

With support from partners like Energy Absolute, Saisamorn Inter Group, and Element 72, the event struck the rare balance between social conscience and good old-fashioned fun. It didn’t shout for attention—it whispered with soul.

📅 What’s Next?

Plenty, it turns out. Bluport Hua Hin’s Pride celebrations continue throughout June, with more wellness workshops, cultural showcases, and moments of magic still to come.

Final Thought from the Sand

This wasn’t just a celebration—it was a sanctuary. A technicolour reminder that sometimes, the most revolutionary thing you can do is show up, be yourself, and dance like no one’s watching… even when everyone is.

To Bluport Hua Hin and everyone who made this event possible, thank you. You’ve proven that healing can be joyful, that wellness can be fabulous, and that pride, when paired with purpose, is a mighty force indeed.
