credit, Adam Johnson DesignBird in Hand has introduced two new labels – the Tasmanian Series and Tasmanian Reserve Series. The debut release includes a lighter style Nouveau Pinot Noir and a crisp dry Riesling as part of the Tasmanian Series along with a rich and full-bodied Pinot Noir from the Reserve Series, each crafted to showcase the unique terroir and cool-climate expressions defining the island state.

Representing a bold new chapter for Bird in Hand, the new ranges exemplify the winery’s dedication to quality, place and craftsmanship. “This marks an exciting chapter, bringing our team’s craftsmanship to the outstanding grape growing conditions, winemaking excellence and artistic passion of Tasmania, while preserving our dedication to producing world-class premium wines from the magnificent Adelaide Hills,” said Andrew Nugent, who co-founded Bird in Hand in 1997 with wife Susie.

“These wines reflect the rugged wilderness of Tasmania and its ability to produce wines of exceptional purity and elegance,” added Sarah Burvill, Bird in Hand’s senior winemaker. “With the inaugural releases, we’ve focused on highlighting the clarity of the fruit and the distinct character of the region, creating wines that capture the unique flavours and complexity of Tasmania’s terroir.”

The launch coincides with Bird in Hand’s announcement to lead the hospitality offerings at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart from 2025. This includes an on-site restaurant inspired by the flagship LVN Restaurant in Woodside, Adelaide Hills, scheduled to open in late 2025. Additionally, Bird in Hand will oversee weddings and events across the gardens’ stunning grounds, bringing its signature approach to impeccable service and generous hospitality, underscored by its reputation for producing fine Australian wine.

Emphasising the exclusivity of the release, the debut wines in the Tasmanian Series and Tasmanian Reserve Series will initially be offered to members of the Bird in Hand Flight Club, which can be joined through an online application.

All three limited-release wines will be featured at select hospitality venues of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, with the Riesling and Reserve Series Pinot Noir also available by the glass at LVN Restaurant in Adelaide Hills.
