United Airlines today announces that it is the official airline partner of the Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon presented by ASICS, for 2024. United is one of the main sponsors of the iconic event, supporting the 5km race on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Leading up to the race this Sunday, United is making travel easier for U.S. passengers heading to Auckland. The airline is now offering daily flights on its San Francisco-Auckland route for the summer period, ensuring seamless connections just in time for the event and the holiday season.
As New Zealand’s largest running event for over 30 years, the Auckland Marathon invites participants to experience the race along Viaduct Harbour, and through Auckland’s city, offering a once-a-year opportunity to cross the Auckland Harbour Bridge on foot. Hundreds are set to compete in the United Airlines 5km race, finishing at Victoria Park.
Tim Wallis, United Airlines Regional Manager – Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti, is proud to join forces with the Auckland Marathon for the first time.
“All of our United team is proud to support local events like the Auckland Marathon, showcasing the best of our Kiwi culture and community spirit. We can’t wait to hit the ground running and embrace the excitement of this incredible event,” said Tim Wallis.
“Participants travel the world to compete in these wonderful running events, and the City of Sails is one of the most beautiful and picturesque venues on the marathon map. We look forward to flying some competitors to the big US events in the future!”
