There’s no such thing as a quiet season in Sydney with one of the most spectacular and celebrated events on the city’s cultural calendar, Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, running 21 March to 20 April 2025.
Famous for its stunning views, vast overwater stage and impressive sets, the event has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting theatrical experiences of the year and a truly unique way to spend an evening overlooking Sydney Harbour.
From 21 March, a brand new production of the beloved musical Guys & Dolls will premiere on the iconic open-air Sydney Harbour stage, ensuring the fun continues long after summer ends.
Guys & Dolls promises lots of laughs, show-stopping dance numbers, a live orchestra, fireworks and enviable views of Sydney’s skyline, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, creating a spectacular night out and an unforgettable addition to any itinerary.
With music by Frank Loesser and book by Joe Swerling and Abe Burrows, the five-time Tony award-winning musical is filled-to-the-brim with instantly recognisable tunes, including ‘Luck Be a Lady’ and ‘Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat’. Under the direction of award-winning Shaun Rennie the flashy world of showgirls and gangsters from 1950s Manhattan will spring to life for a fun-filled, feel-good night of song and dance.
The pop-up, purpose built site at Mrs Macquaries Point opens at 5:00pm so guests can kickstart their evening as the sun sets over the Harbour with dinner and drinks at one of the five bespoke dining areas, from five star luxury in the HSBC Platinum Club to casual cocktails in the Qantas Garden Bar, there’s something for every taste and budget.
Sydney is the major events capital of the Asia Pacific, hosting exclusive international sporting events, Australian premieres of blockbuster musicals and a world-class calendar of cultural events delivering more than $600 million into the local economy.
Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour is supported by the NSW Government, via its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, and through the International Foundation for Arts and Culture as Naming Rights Partner, Dr Haruhisa Handa OA’s Patron in Chief, and OA’s Principal Partner HSBC.
