Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia (UWEA) has welcomed esteemed Tasmanian winery Devil’s Corner to the collective.

Located on Tasmania’s Great Eastern Drive, two hours from Hobart and 90 minutes from Launceston, the Devil’s Corner cellar door overlooks the Freycinet Peninsula and the famous Hazards mountain range, which are namesakes for Devil’s Corner’s premium tier of wine.

Part of the Brown Family Wine Group (which also owns fellow UWEA member Brown Brothers in Victoria’s King Valley region), Devil’s Corner upholds Tasmania’s global reputation as a leading producer of cool-climate varietals, specialising in pinot noir, chardonnay, and riesling, as well as elegant syrah.

Named after a rugged bend in the nearby Tamar River, Devil’s Corner’s cellar door and vineyards are situated on the edge of Moulting Lagoon, an internationally significant Ramsar wetland that supports several rare and threatened Tasmanian species of birds and plant life.

The cellar door undertook an extensive site transformation in 2021, enhancing the space and shelter to provide a year-round destination for visitors to enjoy immersive wine and food experiences. The timber-clad lookout stands tall at the entrance to the property and offers guests the opportunity to climb up and soak in the panoramic views from the top.

With expansive decks for alfresco dining, the cellar door boasts two key spaces for experiences. Taking inspiration from its natural surroundings, the Hazards Tasting Room offers an all-day space to enjoy wine tastings with sweeping views, paired with fresh Tasmanian seafood and wood-fired pizzas from local culinary partners Fishers of Freycinet and Tombolo Freycinet.

Below the Hazards Tasting Room is the exquisite Devil’s Den – an impressive underground cellar built into the hillside offering an exclusive space for private masterclasses, functions and events with views across Devil’s Corner’s rolling vineyards and Moulting Lagoon.

Guests visiting the winery can book an immersive Ultimate Winery Experience to go beyond the cellar door. The Moulting Lagoon Experience goes off the beaten track, exploring the picturesque vineyards before an authentic hands-on oyster shucking demonstration from the back of a ute with a glass of riesling or pinot gris in hand. After enjoying the fresh Freycinet oysters, guests return to the Devil’s Den, where they’ll feast on local Tasmanian seafood paired with premium Devil’s Corner wines.

Alternatively, guests with a sweet tooth can indulge in a wine and chocolate pairing, where a flight of four wines is paired with artisanal chocolates from local producer Tutumaz & The Devil.

Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia Executive Officer Sarah Myers expressed her delight to welcome Devil’s
Corner to the fold.

“Devil’s Corner joins House of Arras, Josef Chromy and Moorilla as our fourth Tasmanian winery member. Nestled in the heart of Tasmania’s rugged landscape, Devil’s Corner perfectly captures the essence of this wild and pristine region,” said Myers.

“Visitors will not only enjoy exceptional cool-climate wines but also the opportunity to savour Tasmania’s renowned seafood while taking in breathtaking views. Together, we are excited to share this immersive experience with high-value travellers seeking the extraordinary,” she said.

Will Adkins of Brown Family Wine Group said he was looking forward to the collective learning and marketing opportunities that Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia presents.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Ultimate Winery Experiences, collaborating with their team to bring the unique experiences of our Devil’s Corner Cellar Door and Tasmanian wines to a broader national and international audience,” he said.
