In a groundbreaking move, Emirates has announced the launch of its newly refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft, set to debut on routes to Geneva, Tokyo, Haneda, and Brussels. This strategic enhancement promises a superior travel experience with new Business Class seats and the introduction of Premium Economy. The first Boeing 777 to undergo a complete interior makeover will commence its service on 11 August, with tickets available for purchase from today on emirates.com, the Emirates App, or via travel agents.
A New Era of Comfort and Luxury
Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Airline, emphasized its commitment to providing unparalleled comfort and luxury across its fleet. “With the addition of the newly retrofitted Boeing 777s to our fleet, we’re capturing the opportunity to introduce our highly acclaimed products like Premium Economy to more cities already served by this aircraft type in our network, in addition to more seating variety in four classes,” said Kazim.
Drawing inspiration from their flagship A380 aircraft, the refurbished Boeing 777 interiors feature modern design details and signature cabin finishings. The new Business Class cabin, configured in a 1-2-1 layout, offers enhanced privacy, while the Premium Economy seats provide a new level of comfort for discerning travellers.
Enhanced Features Across All Classes
The comprehensive refurbishment includes:
- First Class Cabin: Luxurious suites with state-of-the-art amenities.
- Business Class: 38 new seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, offering direct aisle access, a 23-inch HD screen, a personal mini-bar, and a flatbed feature.
- Premium Economy: 24 latest seats designed for maximum comfort.
- Economy Class: 256 seats with improved ergonomics.
Each Business Class seat is designed to provide maximum privacy and comfort. It features a touch-screen seat controller, ample stowage, charging outlets, and a large table for dining and work. The cabin will also include a small bar area for mid-flight refreshments.
Strategic Deployment
The refurbished Boeing 777s will initially operate on the following routes:
- Geneva (EK 83/84): Starting 11 August
- Tokyo Haneda (EK 312/313): Starting 1 September
- Brussels (EK 183/184): Starting 11 September
This initiative is part of Emirates’ broader retrofit program, which aims to refurbish 81 Boeing 777s and 191 aircraft, marking the most extensive retrofit program in the airline industry. This ambitious project, costing over $3 billion, underscores Emirates’ dedication to delivering the best possible in-flight experience.
Future Expansion
Emirates operates refurbished A380 aircraft fitted with Premium Economy to significant destinations, including New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London Heathrow, and many more. By February 2025, the airline plans to serve over 36 cities with its Premium Economy offering, alongside the addition of the A350 to its fleet in September this year.
Kazim further highlighted the airline’s strategic vision: “Our investment and intense focus on offering the best possible product across every cabin class ensure we provide a consistent experience on both the Boeing 777s and A380s.”
