“The full Kumbh Mela is India’s largest religious gathering and takes place only once every 12 years,” said Monika Sundem, CEO of Adventure Life. “Hindu devotees from across the country make the pilgrimage to attend the event, which lasts for 40 days between January and March, and travelers can get an up-close view as it unfolds. The tour begins in Delhi, and visits Agra, the “Pink City” of Jaipur and Varanasi before culminating at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
On walks, drives, and rickshaw and boat rides, explore the Jama Masjid mosque, narrow alleys and 350-year-old markets of Old Delhi, Humayun’s Tomb and the ceremonial Rajpath in New Delhi, the white marble Taj Mahal in Agra, the Amber Fort and City Palace in Jaipur, and the temples, holy ponds and ghats (steps) of Varanasi.
