Guam welcomed the first of two charter flights from Taiwan on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 4:05pm. The charter flights are operated by Starlux, a Taiwanese air carrier aiming to bring vacationers to Guam during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, which falls on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.
Taiwan travel agencies Spunk Tour and Phoenix Tours collaborated with Starlux and local Guam hotels to offer a 4-night special holiday getaway to Guam. The promotion was successful as both flights were fully booked at a capacity of about 177 seats each. The second flight will arrive on Saturday, February 10th.
The Guam Visitors Bureau was on site to welcome the first arrivals with music and Made in Guam gift items, such as donne’ denanche, cookies, and chocolate in the auspicious red bags for the Chinese New Year. A special appearance by “Kiko the Ko’Ko’ Bird”, GVB’s Guam Rail mascot, was well-received and enjoyed by passengers of every age. GVB also provided incentive meal coupons for participating hotels and restaurants to passengers to help celebrate the CNY holiday and provide a memorable experience while on Guam. Special thanks to our participating hoteliers for their contribution to the meal incentive program: Dusit Thani Guam, Guam Plaza, Hotel Nikko Guam, Pacific Islands Club Guam, Rihga Royal Laguna Guam Resort, and The Tsubaki Tower.
GVB’s President & CEO Carl Gutierrez states, “It’s important to showcase our hospitality to these visitors from Taiwan as well as our deep appreciation. They have chosen Guam out of all destinations to spend their holidays and that speaks volumes about the viability of the Taiwan market.”
