Hyatt Place proudly announces the appointment of Bennett Peter as the General Manager for the newly opened Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur Bukit Jalil.
The unveiling of Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Jalil, marks a historic milestone as Malaysia’s inaugural Hyatt Place and the first international hotel in the thriving Bukit Jalil district. This achievement underscores the global expansion of the Hyatt Place brand, strategically extending its presence to key markets that resonate with both discerning guests and dedicated World of Hyatt members.
Fondly known as Ben, Mr. Peter has deep roots in Kuala Lumpur, where he grew up before pursuing a Sales Management degree from Western Illinois University in the United States. His journey in the hospitality industry began in 1996, initially navigating sales and marketing at the Buying Guide business directory in Kuala Lumpur. A fortuitous encounter during a sales call with a hotel General Manager steered him towards the hotel industry, setting the stage for his career.
In the year 2000, Ben embarked on his hospitality journey at the Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort, where he assumed the role of Revenue Manager. Over the subsequent 15 years, he moved through various sales, marketing, and management positions at establishments such as the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel in Bali, Crowne Plaza Danang, InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, and The Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa.
Entering the Hyatt family in 2015 as the Sales & Marketing Director at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, Ben was then promoted to the position of Executive Assistant Manager. He later assumed his first General Manager role at Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont Kiara, subsequently transitioning to the same role at Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur Bukit Jalil in 2023.
Expressing gratitude, Ben remarked, “I’m deeply appreciative of the unwavering support from the Hyatt family and the hotel’s owners, granting me the opportunity to lead Malaysia’s inaugural Hyatt Place. Guided by Hyatt’s purpose of care, we operate as one cohesive team with a singular objective – to deliver exceptional returns for all stakeholders and create unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
Away from the hotel, Ben finds joy in piloting a microlight aircraft, exploring the depths of the ocean through deep-sea diving, and nurturing a rescue shelter for 8 dogs and 12 cats.
Ben is happily married to Naho, originally from Tokyo. Reflecting on their life together, he shares, “Langkawi Island is now our home, and I eagerly anticipate my brief returns to be with Naho and our cherished animals.”
