Miral, the renowned developer behind some of Abu Dhabi’s most captivating destinations, has made waves with a monumental announcement set to redefine Yas Island’s landscape. In a grand revelation, Miral announced a massive expansion plan for Yas Waterworld, promising to elevate the visitor experience to unprecedented heights.
The expansion, spanning an impressive 16,900 square meters, is poised to introduce 18 exhilarating rides and attractions to Yas Waterworld, further solidifying its status as a world-class entertainment hub. With completion slated for 2025, this expansion is projected to boost guest capacity by a substantial 20%, a testament to Yas Waterworld’s enduring popularity among local and international visitors.
One of the standout features of this ambitious expansion is the introduction of the UAE’s highest slide, promising an adrenaline-pumping, heart-racing experience for thrill-seekers. But that’s not all; the expansion will also house the GCC’s first amusement ride integrated into a water park’s waterslide complex. This groundbreaking addition will allow up to 20 guests and water park enthusiasts to embark on a daring adventure with a jaw-dropping 15-meter-high drop.
Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, the Group CEO of Miral, expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone project, saying, “This expansion marks another addition to our world-class attractions and experiences on Yas Island, and a testament to achieving our vision of positioning it as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure. We are proud to be contributing to the development of Abu Dhabi’s ecosystem and economic diversification, while further enhancing its global appeal as a tourism hub.”
Over the past decade, Yas Waterworld has captivated visitors with its immersive ‘The Legend of the Lost Pearl’ storyline, celebrating the UAE’s rich pearl-diving heritage. Combining a thrilling array of rides, attractions, shopping, and dining options, this award-winning theme park offers the ultimate water adventure experience.
The new chapter in Yas Waterworld’s story is called the ‘Lost City,’ an exciting journey where guests will uncover hidden treasures and secret passages, all interwoven with fun-filled attractions. The expansion harmonizes with the park’s existing architectural style, rockwork features, and iconic characters, transporting visitors to a captivating new world.
Among the highlights of the expansion are a swim-up bar, a high-thrill boat ride, racing and tube slides, family raft rides, and a duelling master blaster. The expansion also caters to younger thrill-seekers with scaled-down versions of Yas Waterworld’s iconic rides. These include a mini-Dawwama, the region’s only kids’ mini blaster fusion ride with two blaster sections and a thrilling rattler end section, as well as a mini-Boomerango, offering young guests a big ride sensation without fear, complete with a hero-shot photo opportunity.
Yas Waterworld is just one part of the incredible offering on Yas Island, which also boasts world-class attractions such as Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi, CLYMB Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan, Yas Bay Waterfront with the UAE’s largest indoor multi-purpose venue, Etihad Arena, the world’s first-ever Warner Bros. themed hotel, and the newly opened SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. These globally renowned offerings solidify the island’s position as a top destination for entertainment and leisure.
Guided by its unwavering commitment to being customer-centric, progressive, and efficient, Miral remains dedicated to growing and enhancing Yas Island as a thriving destination while continually introducing new leisure and entertainment destinations and ventures that generate sustainable value, all while contributing to the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy.
