Cathay Pacific - LogoIn a triumphant return to form, Cathay Pacific has reinstated its pre-pandemic flight frequency between Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport and Hong Kong, much to the delight of international travellers and industry insiders alike. As of November 2, 2023, the airline offers up to four flights daily, responding robustly to the growing demand for international air travel.

The uplift in services includes the inauguration of a new daily flight, with CX162 taking off from Sydney at 10:55 and touching down in Hong Kong at 17:10, and its counterpart, CX161, departing Hong Kong at 21:20, to arrive in Sydney at 09:35 the following day. These flights complement Cathay Pacific’s already extensive service offering, which includes the existing daily flights of CX110/CX111, CX100/CX101, and CX138/CX139.

This strategic expansion coincides with a significant milestone for Cathay Pacific – the 49th anniversary of the airline’s operation between Hong Kong and Sydney. The Regional General Manager for Southwest Pacific at Cathay Pacific, Frosti Lau, expressed the company’s enthusiasm about the development, stating, “We’re thrilled to resume pre-pandemic frequency of passenger flights between Sydney and Hong Kong. We have a longstanding commitment to the Sydney market, and this service reaffirms our dedication to continuing to restore capacity and connectivity across the Cathay Pacific network.”

The enhancement of flight services to Sydney represents just one element of Cathay Pacific’s broader initiative to augment capacity across the Australian market, with recent announcements detailing increased services to Brisbane and Perth. By the close of 2023, the Cathay Group aims to operate at approximately 70% of its pre-pandemic passenger flight capacity.

Passengers aboard the new flight services will enjoy the luxuries of the Airbus A350 aircraft, featuring a total of 334 seats. This includes 46 fully flat Business Class seats, 32 Premium Economy seats, and 256 Economy seats, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious experience for all. Moreover, Cathay Pacific’s award-winning inflight entertainment and superior cabin experience await all who choose to fly with the airline.

Bookings for these revitalized flight services are now open and can be made through the official Cathay Pacific website at www.cathaypacific.com/au.

With this significant enhancement to its flight services, Cathay Pacific is not only answering the call of increased travel demand but also solidifying its position as a leading airline in the international travel industry. The restoration of these flight frequencies marks a new chapter for Cathay Pacific and the countless passengers it serves, promising a future filled with connectivity, luxury, and the joy of travel.
