Enter into intrigue and pour into opulence as QT Wellington launches the city’s newest gin bar, Gallery Lounge. Located on the hotel’s ground floor, the famous art collection that adorns QT Wellington’s walls now sets the scene for sipping and swirling gin-based drinks.
Featuring a gallery of gins from hyper-local to international, Gallery Lounge will serve a menu of build-your-own gin and tonics, a rotation of gin cocktails and a daily Martini Hour. These rituals are in partnership with hero distillers who act as artists of an exhibition, gin makers are welcomed into the lounge on a bi-monthly basis to showcase their works of gin art. Gallery Lounge will host live music, meet-the-maker style events and tastings.
Inaugural partner and first exhibition is Reefton Distilling Co’s Little Biddy Gin. Named after Reefton icon and gin-loving gold prospector, Little Biddy Gin harnesses native botanicals gathered from deep in the West Coast rainforest where its namesake once foraged. Gallery Lounge is serving three specialty cocktails showcasing this unique spirit, created in collaboration with the QT’s expert team, and Little Biddy brand ambassador and international mixologist, Jason Clark.
Special events are also on the cards, with Gallery Lounge hosting a G&Tea high tea during the World of WearableArt season. Inspired by the world’s favourite spirit and preferred partner to tonic, this high tea is a mixer of craft cocktails and perfect patisserie, crafted by QT Wellington’s Pastry Chef, Paige Simons. Two sittings of this special high tea are scheduled for Saturday September 30 and October 7, from 12pm. Each G&Tea booking includes a high tea spread, two G&T cocktails and a selection of endless T2 tea.
