Custom travel specialist, Adventure World, has set its sights on creating unforgettable journeys with a powerful message of empowerment. In the latest release, the Authentic India and Sri Lanka Collection, Adventure World introduces a series of itineraries that focuses a lens on empowering women of the region.
Picture yourself road tripping through the streets of Jaipur India – but with a remarkable twist – being chauffeured around by none other than the proud women of Jaipur, donning their vibrant pink e-rickshaws.
The Pink City Rickshaw Company, is an innovative not for profit organization aiming to provide a new aspirational employment opportunity to 200 women from low-income households in Jaipur. These remarkable women not only master the art of rickshaw driving but also rise as equity holders and managers of specially crafted eco-friendly rickshaws.
Najima Bano, one of the Pink City Rickshaw Company’s drivers says, “From being a mother of four, living in the slums of Jaipur, and crafting lac bangles to support my family, I’ve now been provided this opportunity for a brighter horizon. Today, I am not just a driver but also a trainer for the Pink City Rickshaw Company, symbolizing the resilience of women. Not only do I now have extra income to support my family, I also have independence.”
Adventure World’s Managing Director, Neil Rodgers, adds, “These unique experiences, whether it’s the inspiring pink e-rickshaw drivers in India or the women crafting traditional hopper breakfasts in Sri Lanka’s lush fields, in turn empower families to access better healthcare and education. The UNWTO recognizes that the key barrier for women in tourism is not a lack of initiative but an absence of opportunity. It’s imperative that we seamlessly weave these life-changing experiences into our most sought-after itineraries, now forming the core of our Authentic India and Sri Lanka Collection.”
All Authentic India and Authentic Sri Lanka itineraries are customizable, allowing travellers to tailor their adventure to their specific interest including iconic sights such as the Taj Mahal in Agra or Srigaya Rock Palace in Sri Lanka. A unifying aspect of many trips in this collection is the driver guide who ferries you between iconic sites and provides that special insight into their culture.
