Grand Hotel Kronenhof has recently unveiled a collection of newly-designed guest rooms and suites, including its largest suite, the Kronenhof Suite. The renowned interior design firm, Pierre-Yves Rochon (PYR), known for their award-winning work, was once again responsible for this project which included ten rooms. PYR is headquartered in Paris and has an additional office in Chicago, which allows the firm to take a global, innovative approach to designing destinations.

Taken as a whole the renovations at the 175-year-old landmark of luxurious Swiss hospitality have been far-reaching. Today, the hotel is home to a refreshed and restored reception area, grand lobby lounge with panoramic views of the Swiss Alps, an intimate and stylish bar area, as well as a fireplace and smoking room. To date, 29 of the hotel’s 112 rooms and suites have been masterfully redesigned featuring hues of blue and gray to convey a feeling of timeless elegance and comfort. The result is a harmonious balance between the hotel’s rich heritage and a fresh, contemporary atmosphere that will carry it into the future. Today, the iconic hotel offers its guests a breathtaking backdrop with its Belle Époque architecture, serving as charming retreat for visitors looking for a quiet retreat in natural surroundings.

In harmony with its rich tradition, the legendary hotel effortlessly embraces its iconic past. Keeping the property’s history at the forefront, PYR’s design took the hotel’s unique characteristics as inspiration for the renovations.  The design concept exudes the serene atmosphere of a chalet, skillfully enhanced with classic details allowing travelers to experience being closer to the surrounding nature. The color palette chosen for the hotel’s interiors is carefully curated to evoke the natural beauty of the Alpine environment, particularly in midsummer when the landscape is in full bloom and the Engadine’s high peaks and endless sky inspire awe.

The character of the Kronenhof has always been shaped by its location in the middle of a natural paradise, and PYR’s choice of soft materials further enhances the overall sense of timeless living within the hotel. The result is an inviting and comfortable ambiance that appeals to all the senses, providing guests with a genuine feel-good environment where they can unwind and appreciate the beauty of both the surroundings and the carefully curated interior design. The firm’s attention to detail and their ability to infuse the spirit of the Engadine region into the hotel’s aesthetic make the Grand Hotel Kronenhof a truly exceptional destination for travelers seeking both luxury and an authentic connection to nature.

A notable addition to this phase of renovation is the newly created two-bedroom Kronenhof Suite on the fifth floor – the largest suite in the hotel. PYR’s vision was to create the ambience of a private apartment with high ceilings permeated by an abundance of natural light. In the suite, double doors lead the way from the spacious entrance area into the atrium, while a dark parquet floor and leather accents create a contemporary ambience underline. A well-stocked bookcase, curated collection of designer pieces and modern furniture create a harmonious connection throughout the interior. In addition, there is an experience bar with “pocket doors” that is designed like a leather steamer trunk. The kinetic motif of the carpet and the gray stone of the bathroom create strong accents, while the specially designed lamps are reminiscent of water and ice. The master bedroom features a magnificent screen artwork commissioned from Museo. Today, past and present, tradition and innovation are just as seamlessly blended in Kronenhof’s design and hospitality.
