The announcement, made today by Virgin Voyages Chief Brand Officer Nathan Rosenberg, signifies a remarkable milestone in the resurgence of the cruise sector.

In a nod to the visionary leadership of NSW Premier Chris Minns, the decision to cast aside these limitations has garnered widespread praise from both cruise enthusiasts and industry insiders. This bold move demonstrates the NSW Government’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing the Australian cruise sector, which holds tremendous promise for the nation’s economy.

Despite the official health advice from the Federal Government, which does not explicitly mandate vaccinations for cruise travellers, Australia stood as an outlier on the global stage with its persisting COVID-19 restrictions. Among these restrictions was the mandatory requirement of wearing masks during the embarkation process, a measure unparalleled in other cruising destinations.

Nathan Rosenberg, Chief Brand Officer of Virgin Voyages, thanked Premier Minns for the pivotal step to unshackling the industry. He emphasized the significance of this move in aligning Australia with international cruising standards. Rosenberg fervently urged other states to swiftly follow suit, underlining the enormous pent-up demand among Australians for cruise experiences and the subsequent economic windfall it heralds.

Virgin Voyages, renowned for its exclusively adult and award-winning cruise experiences, is poised to make an indelible mark on the Australian cruise scene. The Resilient Lady, the newest addition to Virgin Voyages’ fleet, is set to grace the shores of Sydney and Melbourne in what promises to be an unforgettable Summer sailing season. Anchoring in Sydney on December 4, the maiden voyage from Melbourne is scheduled for December 11.

Virgin Voyages has succeeded with itineraries spanning 3-14 nights, securing top industry accolades. The 2023 Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards crowned Virgin Voyages as the Number 1 in the large ships category, a testament to their exceptional offerings. Further solidifying their dominance, the 2023 Cruise Critic Cruisers Choice awards witnessed Virgin Voyages sweeping all five cruise categories.

Nathan Rosenberg enthusiastically expressed the company’s profound appreciation for the Australian market. Highlighting the strong connection with sister companies that are beloved nationwide, he underlined the anticipation surrounding their Australian debut. He noted, “Our newest and truly game-changing ship will bring Australians an experience unlike any other.”

This announcement reverberates as a resounding boost for the Australian economy and the global cruising industry. With the NSW Government’s resolute support, the cruise sector is poised to reclaim its position as a formidable economic contributor and a wellspring of unforgettable journeys. As the Resilient Lady embarks on its maiden voyage, the spirit of adventure and rejuvenation sails ever closer on the horizon.
