In a groundbreaking announcement, AMADEUS River Cruises has unveiled plans to usher in a new era of environmentally-conscious luxury river cruises. The pioneering move will see the launch of the 5-star AMADEUS Nova in spring 2024, setting an unprecedented benchmark for cruising on the Rhine and Danube, the iconic European rivers.
AMADEUS Nova is being hailed as a leap forward, meticulously designed to blend opulence, innovative technology, and environmental measures. This modern marvel will possess a hybrid diesel-electric drive supplemented by a powerful battery system. Enhanced engines will be fitted with advanced filters and catalysts engineered to decrease emissions and eradicate pollutants.
AMADEUS Nova Deck Plan
One of the distinct aspects of the AMADEUS Nova is its integration of renewable energy sources. Solar panels will be harnessed to generate electricity, while heat recovery systems and insulated glass will boost energy efficiency. The ship will be at the forefront of luxury and sustainability, employing autonomous control and positioning strategies to augment safety and fuel efficiency.
Wolfgang Lüftner, the founder and managing director of AMADEUS River Cruises, underscored the significance of this innovative move. He stated, “The AMADEUS Nova is our response to the question of whether you can combine ship comfort with environmental awareness. With the new generation, we want to offer the most progressive and environmentally friendly technology currently available. Thus, the AMADEUS Nova truly reflects our commitment to sustainable travel.”
The AMADEUS Nova promises to redefine the standards of luxury cruising. The ship’s layout includes four decks, 12 spacious suites (approximately. 284 ft² each) with private balconies, and 67 exterior cabins (approximately 188 ft² each) featuring mainly panoramic windows that can be lowered. The ship’s advanced features include wind-protected lounge areas, an open Café Vienna, and a spa and fitness area. Notably, the sun deck boasts a heated pool, a distinctive feature on a river cruise ship.
Regarding design, the AMADEUS Nova follows the successful path of the AMADEUS Riva and AMADEUS Cara. These two ships have already gained high acclaim among the young fleet for customer satisfaction, and the Nova is set to build upon that success.
From 2024, the AMADEUS Nova will journey across Europe’s major rivers – the Rhine and Danube. These majestic rivers are internationally renowned for their attractive and historically significant sights, providing a stunning backdrop to the ultra-luxurious cruising experience.
