Aptly described as the Olympic Games of the tourism industry, this grand event has progressively expanded in scale, diversity, and significance over the past five decades. Australian buyers, including industry giants like Adventure World, APT & Travelmarvel, Entire Travel Group, Helloworld, Inspiring Vacations, Intrepid, Luxury Escapes, Scenic Tours, and Travel Associates, made their presence felt, adding to the event’s international allure.

Amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Quebec City, The Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Canada’s esteemed Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, expressed his enthusiasm for the occasion, stating, “This event is an unprecedented opportunity for communities large and small, and for our tourism ecosystem to showcase the best of our country to buyers from around the world. Canada is open for business, and we’re ready to welcome the world to our shores!” His words echoed the sentiments of countless attendees, who hailed the gathering as a chance to exhibit Canada’s splendours on a global stage.

Marsha Walden, the visionary President and CEO of Destination Canada, shed light on the remarkable recovery of Canada’s tourism industry, revealing that it currently stands at an impressive 89 per cent rebound from the crippling effects of the pandemic. With the end of 2023 or early 2024 anticipated to mark a full recovery, Walden emphasized the profound impact of the pandemic on people’s perception of travel and its vital role in community well-being. “If there was any silver lining in the pandemic, it’s that people emerged from it with a recognition of what tourism and hospitality meant to communities and what travel meant to their personal lives. Tourism contributes to the wellbeing of Canada,” she asserted.

Throughout the event, participants were treated to captivating explorations of Quebec City’s rich heritage, culture, and delectable cuisine. One standout tour offered an immersive experience with the Huron-Wendat Nation in Wendake, a remarkable urban Indigenous community in Quebec. Attendees could explore the history, witness vibrant cultural traditions, and savour the region’s flavours. Another awe-inspiring excursion transported guests to the lush Île d’Orléans, affectionately known as “Québec City’s vegetable garden,” where they indulged in a gourmet getaway, tantalizing their taste buds with local delicacies.

As the trade show drew close, delegates embarked on famils, experiencing firsthand the wonders of Quebec’s expansive province. From the vibrant cityscape of Montreal to the breathtaking natural landscapes of the Laurentians and Charlevoix and even the majestic whale route of Côte-Nord, participants were immersed in significant travel experiences that showcased Canada’s awe-inspiring diversity.

The success of Rendez-vous Canada not only highlights the resilience of Canada’s tourism industry and underscores the country’s unwavering commitment to offering unforgettable travel experiences. With a successful recovery on the horizon, Canada stands ready to welcome the world, beckoning adventurers to explore its captivating landscapes and discover the essence of true wanderlust.
